Remarks
The motif in the lower portion of this drawing appears to relate to a passage (right of center) in an untitled canvas dated to 1941/1942 (fig. 1); the anatomical elements in the upper portion of this drawing also call to mind the same canvas and another of the same period entitled Crucifix (fig. 2). A variety of versions of the motifs also appear in a group of works on paper (see Related Works on Paper).
